“Shure Call for Legends” Competition Terms and Conditions
Please note: Only the English version of these terms and conditions is legally binding. Translations can only be considered as supporting content.
Shure calls bands/soloists to participate in a contest.
Participants will be asked to provide one application video, and one song.

The closing date for entries is 31st December 2013, 11:59 am Central European Time (CET).
The competition is open Worldwide (save that participants under 18 years or any other legal age of majority as determined by the local law where you reside must be able to provide the consent of a parent or guardian if requested as detailed below).
The first prize can only be rewarded to a band whose members are all of legal age (> 18 years or any other legal age of majority as determined by the local law where you reside). All members of the band must be available 10-12 March 2014 for the recording of an EP, and 5-6 July 2014 for Paris and Montreux gigs.
Entry limited to one per person/per band. The band cannot contain any more than five members. All participants in this competition must be non-professional, i.e are not to be already signed to any major record label.
The participant must send his submission in accordance with the instructions on the submission page on the website www.shure-call-for-legends.eu. Submissions will not be accepted by e-mail, post or other means not specified on the aforementioned website.
Shure reserves the right to reject any entry.
Submitted Song, submitted video & Usage Rights
The entrants represent and warrant that the song and the video submitted is the entrant’s original work. In addition the entrant represents and warrants that the song and the video shall not contain any so called samples and/or other copyright material owned by a third party.
All entrants declare that the songs and the video uploaded are not subject to rights of licensors, management companies (e.g. GEMA – German society for musical performing and mechanical reproduction rights) or other third-parties.
The entrants agree that Shure will forward their contact information in any case of copyright infringement to the infringed party.
No song and no video submitted as part of this competition, regardless of age, should contain sounds or words that could be offensive to the reasonable person on grounds that it discriminates against or is discriminatory to any person or group (whether on grounds of sex, race, religion or other).
Entrants retain right over the submitted pieces of music and film. Shure warrants not using the recording beyond the necessary in connection with the competition.
The participants grant unlimited right of use (no download) of the three recorded songs to Shure on Shure websites or social media sites used by SHURE.
By entering and submitting a song and a video, all eligible entrants agree to abide by each and all of these general rules, the terms and conditions that govern the competition.
Campaign Mechanism and Prize
The winners will be selected as follows:
The band/the soloist must obtain at least 300 plays on SoundCloud.
From this pool Shure chooses a pre-selection of 20 bands/soloists after closing date on 31st December 2013. Bands selected in the top 20 shortlist will be asked to provide a second audio track.
The top 20 will then be evaluated by a jury consisting of:
Chris Kimsey (UK) – Sound Engineer & Producer
Mathieu Jaton (CH) – CEO Montreux Jazz Festival Foundation
Erroll Anonie (NL) – A&R Manager Universal Music Group B.V.
The jury will decide for a first, second, and third prize. The jury’s decision is final and binding on the entrants. No correspondence will be entered into.
The winners of the prizes agree that Shure will forward their contact information to the jury members, Shure Distribution Centers, and to Shure Distribution BeNeLux, Shure Distribution Germany, Shure Distribution UK or any other Shure entities.
All entries received by 31st December 2013, 11:59 am Central European Time (CET), having reached at least 300 plays on https://soundcloud.com/groups/shure-call-for-legends by 6th January 2014 will be judged by Shure.
Approval process of uploaded material may take 2-5 working days (time between completed upload and actual publishing)
The first prize consists of the following:
Three-day studio-recording during the period 10.03.-12.03.2014 with Sound Engineer and Producer Chris Kimsey in the Kore Studios London.
Products worth 3.000 € (based on Recommended Retail Price) from selected Shure product portfolio stated at Shure Call for Legends web site.
Flight to Paris on Saturday 5th July 2014. Journey with the Nightliner to Montreux, gig on Sunday 6th July 2014 at the Montreux Jazz Festival.
All dates might change in the course of the campaign.
All expenses concerning travel and accommodation are covered by SHURE, no carriage of bulky goods like drum-sets, pianos or alike.
Every member of the winning band has to be of legal age. If one member of the band is a minor, the band will be rewarded the second prize. In that case, the first prize will be rewarded to the band, the jury considers to be next best.
The band warrants being able to play a 30 minutes gig.
The first prize can only be awarded as a whole.
The second and third prize consist of the following:
Products worth 1.000 € (based on Recommended Retail Price) from selected Shure product portfolio stated at Shure Call for Legends web site.
No cash-payment of the prizes is possible.
The winners will be announced on the official Shure Call for Legends Site in February 2014 and the winners will be notified by e-mail within ten working days thereof. All reasonable endeavors will be made to contact the winners during this time. If a winner cannot be contacted before this time on the mobile number or email address supplied by the entrant with their entry, Shure reserves the right to select the entrant whose entry the judging panel consider to be next best.
Shure reserves the right, with or without cause, to exclude entrants and withhold prizes for violating any of terms and conditions. Shure reserves the right to amend these general rules. Any amendments will be published on the website.
Uses of personal data received by Shure in the course of the competition are subject to the privacy policy found on the website. The winner’s(‘) names may be published on the websites.
Shure reserves the right at any time to cancel, modify or supersede the competition (including altering prizes) if the competition is not capable of being conducted as specified.
These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany.
If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be struck out and the remaining provisions shall be enforced.
By entering the competition all entrants are deemed to have accepted and be bound by these General Rules.
